AkzoNobel introduces new Autocoat BT LV650

Press Release

The product, a multi-generational upgrade to the popular Autocoat LV, utilizes a single set of mixing toners for both basecoat/clearcoat and single stage systems. This capability enables to minimize inventory and increase working capital. It also provides maximum application flexibility. LV650 was specifically designed to be used in either OE manufacturing or repair markets. Autocoat BT LV 650 is also low VOC and HAPS compliant to minimize environmental impact.

“We have really raised the bar on this product,” said Kevin Romine Commercial Product Manager for AkzoNobel Vehicle Refinishes. “The product offers over 4000 color formulas including metallic and pearls. Special attention was given to the application process in a variety of environmental conditions. It maintains its integrity and ease of application in all types of weather, even the most hot and humid. In addition, it provides better coverage and hiding which creates greater throughput. And; most importantly, it is good for the environment. It is HAPS compliant and meets all current regulations.”

“Our customer’s perceived paint as just paint until we switched to the new AkzoNobel BTLV 650 Basecoat system,” said Bob Beck Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement for the Florida Division of Pierce Manufacturing. This system provided the wow effect that our customers were looking for due to the fact that all units are now being clear coated along with the smooth appearance of the BTLV 650 Basecoat. In addition, this system has made performing spot repairs easier because of the clearcoat process. The clear is easier to buff than the solid colors so we have seen a reduction in our buffing times.”
